Elster Determination Award

Determination -firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end.

The Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA is proud to partner with the Elster Foundation to offer the Elster Foundation Determination Award at this years Martinsville Half Marathon.  This award is the brain child of Doug Goldstein who was diagnosed with colon cancer 2 years ago and has undergone numerous surgeries and procedures.  Doug was not satisfied with just surviving cancer but was determined not to let it stop him from doing what he loves… running.  This past year we had 3 inspiring stories so we agreed they all deserved an award.  Click on the links below to read their stories.

In honor of this award the Elster Foundation donated $500 in 2011 to the Invest in Youth fund, which ensures everyone can become a Y member.

In 2012, the Elster Determination Award will be taken to an entirely new level.   We have some great things in the works to inspire everyone.  To share your story or the story of someone you know e-mails Brad@martinsvilleymca.com.
